Focus Mode, iThoughts, OPML - MindNode 2025.2

I'm excited to share that our second MindNode Next feature update of the year is now available. 2025.2 brings back Focus Mode, import of the iThoughts file format, OPML import & export, and a menu for recent documents.

Focus Mode

Our beloved Focus Mode from MindNode Classic is now also available in MindNode Next. Focus Mode lets you concentrate on specific sections of your mind map by dimming out unrelated areas. At the same time, Focus Mode makes it easy to shift focus if necessary: When zoomed in, unfocused branches are hardly visible, but when you zoom out, they change their appearance slightly to make it easy to change focus to another part of your document.

For an even cleaner workspace, MindNode Next now allows you to optionally hide the toolbar, ensuring your ideas remain front and center.

Seamless iThoughts Import

iThoughts was another popular mind-mapping application, but unfortunately, the original developers stopped working on it a year ago. MindNode Classic had support for importing its files for some time, and we received many more requests toadd it to MindNode Next than for any other file format. We are now bringing it to MindNode Next in a greatly enhanced way. The importer in MindNode Next brings over many more attributes from iThoughts documents, so migrating from iThoughts to MindNode is much smoother than before. If you have iThoughts documents, we highly recommend importing them into MindNode Next instead of Classic.

Revived Classic Features

We are continuing the trend of bringing back beloved functionality from MindNode Classic. In addition to Focus Mode, this update also brings:

  • OPML Import and Export: Many outliners use the OPML file format to exchange data. Using OPML, you can import data from other outlines or transfer data from MindNode to an outliner of your choice.
  • Basic Printing Support: You can print your mind maps directly from the app. This is a first step, and we plan to enhance printing support throughout the year.
  • Recent Documents: You can easily access your most recent documents from the Main Menu, Dock Icon, or App icon.

MindNode 2025.2 also greatly enhances performance when opening documents and fixes several bugs and crashes. You can find all the details in our release notes.

We are quickly closing the gap between MindNode Next and MindNode Classic. Check our Roadmap, give MindNode Next a try, and let us know what we should focus on next.
